Our Favorite Wedding Photos of 2017

It’s that time of year. The last days of December when we reflect on what was and look forward to what is to come. This is a very busy photo studio and sometimes it is nice to look back on the 300+ shoots we do in a year and try to narrow it down to a handful of favorites. It’s not an easy task! In 2017, we shot over 250,000 images! That doesn’t even include the sweet iPhone images of the studio dog Ivy. To narrow it down to a handful of favorites is a hard task.

As we have in years past, we’ve broken down our favorites of the year by category. Weddings, Sports and Portraits.

Starting the series off with one of our favorite wedding images of the year. We shot a couple of weddings at Gorge Crest Vineyards this year, but this double rainbow right around sunset at Bryan and Marie’s wedding was by far one of the coolest moments of our wedding season. We were taking portraits around sunset when a guest mentioned a huge storm approaching. I looked up and thought “sweet that will make a great sunset.” Before I knew it, a rainbow popped and it started POURING. Bryan and Marie were troopers though and it made a great photo.

In fact, the rain didn’t stop anyone. The dance party continued on, everyone getting drenched. it was fantastic.

I always love the couple’s expression as they walk up the aisle for the first time as husband and wife. This moment from Brett and Heather’s wedding is a great example of that. Pure joy!

See what I mean? I’m a sucker for emotion in wedding photos. Pure emotion from Dave as he sees Brittany walking down the aisle.

Another nice moment in the good light from Gorge Crest Vineyards. With Mount Hood as your backdrop, it’s kind of hard to go wrong.

Oregon summers are pretty unbeatable and we were lucky to shoot at a variety of beautiful vineyards this season. Courtney and Tricia’s sunny wedding at Sokol Blosser Winery was one for the books. The light was just perfect that day.

Another perfect sunset at a vineyard. I’m sensing a theme for 2017. Cool people in cool vineyards. I really liked this moment of Travis and Teresa enjoying a glass of wine with their close friends around a warm firepit as the sun set behind them.

This wedding season took us all over Oregon with our furthest location being Sisters, OR for Kyle and Corrina’s big day. This was our favorite image of the day with a glimpse of the Three Sisters in the background. Fun fact: Kyle and Corrina’s wedding was the very first to take place at Cascade Street Distillery and we were really excited to be a part of it. Another fun fact, before they hired me, our dogs already followed each other on instagram. ha! We both have the coolest Silver Labs around.

I always love images that stop you and require a bit of figuring out. Layers add dimension and substance to an image making it that much more powerful. This image of Heather as she prepares to walk down the aisle does that for me.

I have shot many, many, many weddings in my time as a professional photographer but never have I seen something like this. Teresa and Travis’ wedding was a rockin’ party from the get go, but just when I thought I’d seen it all, the lead singer of the band The Dusty 45s hopped on top of the bass and LIT HIS TRUMPET ON FIRE and continued jamming! It was insane and made for one of the liveliest moments of our 2017 wedding season!
