Last weekend was one of the busiest sports weekends I have had in recent memory. The Oregon and Oregon State college football teams are both undefeated and both played home games on Saturday. The Beavers hosted Washington State at 3:30pm in Corvallis and the Ducks hosted Washington at 7:30 in Eugene. I was assigned to shoot both.
Luckily I had an assistant to do the driving so that I wouldn’t have to deal with parking. I knew the light at Reser Stadium was going to be fantastic and it did not disappoint. I shot until the light was gone and then drove as fast as we could 40 miles south to Autzen Stadium in Eugene. We arrived about 30 minutes before kickoff and then shot the Ducks embarrassing the Huskies.
I got home about 1:30am. After waking up and grabbing some breakfast with the family, I got back in the car and drove up to Seattle to shoot the Timbers and the Sounders at CenturyLink Field. 67,000 packed the stadium, it was a great atmosphere, even though the Timbers lost 3-0. Here is my take from the game. After the match I filed my pictures and drove back to Portland. Once again arriving home around 1:00am.
Made for a long weekend, but fun too. I mean, I get paid to go to sporting events. That just does not suck. This weekend is another long weekend, but just two football games this time. And I’m flying, so it will be a cake walk. Tomorrow in Boise, ID for Boise St vs Fresno St and Sunday back in Seattle for Seahawks vs Patriots. I love my job.Email This Post
