The Final Baseball Game at PGE Park
Yesterday was a bittersweet day for baseball fans in Portland. The Beavers baseball team, here since 1903, played their final game at PGE Park. To document the game I setup 4 cameras in various locations around the park, each shooting a frame once every 5 seconds. I shot over 9000 photos, here they are in 2 minutes time. I will miss covering the Beavers and I will miss baseball in Portland.

Sentiment is nice, but the Beavers have moved a few times before, the most notable in the 70’s when the independent Mavericks were established here. They folded/moved as well, and the Beavers were somehow ressurected. I look for the same to happen again. Problem is that Portland just can’t hold a baseball team. Very cool project for this time-lapse tho!

Absolutely perfect, heart wrenching and beautiful all at the same time. My family and i went to about 5 games a year and always enjoyed ourselves, dollar dogs, thirsty Thursdays, watching the street car go by and looking at the “Oregonian” building and wondering what they’re doing inside, and wishing I was a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club so I could watch Beaver and Timber games for free. I’ll really miss baseball in Portland, I hope it comes back soon and I hope we get the A’s franchise and a new stadium in Lents Park, near my home.

How do you keep your remote cameras safe? Is there an assistant there keeping an eye on them???

well, they are clamped down and cabled to railings or a couple times they were in areas not acccessible to the public, so I was not too worried about them. The one out front I was a little worried, but it would take somebody a while to figure out how to get it off the railing so i figured it’d be ok…
