Sports Night

It’s been a while since I have shot any sports, so I was pretty happy to have a couple of sports assignments tonight. First, I shot the OSAA 6A Boys Soccer Championship. South Medford vs. South Salem. But like in most championship games, the most story telling images all came in one play.

The match was tied 1-1 with about 20 minutes remaining when the South Medford freshman goalie made a huge mistake by picking up a ball outside of the box, resulting in a free kick from close range and the game winning goal. The image at the top is South Salem celebrating the goal to go up 2-1 and the image above is the goalie. These frames were taken about 20 seconds apart and both tell the story of the game.

After the soccer game I headed over to the Rose Garden to file my pictures and setup some remotes for the Blazers/Timberwolves game. The game was a total bore. The only picture I really liked was this one from a floor remote I set right in front of me from my position under the basket. Rudy Fernandez flying under the hoop and dishing to Joel Przybilla. Hopefully I’ll be shooting a lot more sports in the coming weeks with playoffs and championships and College football and Blazer games, a lot going on. Good times.

Great shot, you have mad skills and your affiliation w/ the band Jack Ramsay is most excellent.
