Media Day’s 2009 Addition
Today I shot the annual portraits for the Portland Timbers. I go down to the stadium and shoot mugs off all the players and feature portraits of specific others for use in the program, etc. Here are a few:
I also did same thing on a little bigger scale last week for the Beavers. Only for the beavers it was “media day” as well, so I had 4-5 different setups ready to go so I could shoot as much as possible as quickly as possible while the players were being pulled every which direction by local media. I needed 5 or 6 different portraits, mugs of 25 players and 5 coaches, and I also setup a photobooth for the guys to shoot thier own picture:
It’s a lot of runnig around and a lot of setup, but the key to a successful shoot of this size is to be prepared and plan ahead before hand. Here are a few more photos from the day:
All of these images were shot in a about an hour, about 5 minutes or so with each player, its a lot of work, but a lot of fun and is always one of my favorite assignments of the year. Thanks to Chris Ryan for helping me out with the Timbers and Stephen Wagner on the Beavs. The Beavers open up tomorrow night at PGE Park, should be a great weekend for baseball, go check them out.
