Latest Video – Jessie and Matt
I mentioned in the earlier post today about Jessie and Matt’s wedding. I really wanted to surprise Jessie with the video, but I can’t wait till she gets back, so up it goes. 
. For this wedding I was trying to challenge myself (or kill myself) by seeing if I could do both stills and video by myself. I concentrated mostly on the stills, as that was what I was hired to do of course, but also shot video clips here and there when I could. I will say it is hard to do both by yourself. This video has a lot more stills in it than the last one, which I like, but the video is also a lot more shaky in spots because I shot a lot of it handheld, or with just a monopod, it is hard to hold a 300 2.8 steady hand held while shooting video and it shows. But overall I am pleased with my second effort and I know Jess and Matt will love it and that is all that matters. I am pleased with my quick learning curve on Final Cut. After my first movie took me all week to finish, I was able to piece this together in about 8 hours start to finish. Enjoy!

Wow. This is quite the change for the better from your first 5dM2 vid. The lighting and colour is really amazing and the black & whites are stunning too. Well done!

Thanks John. The biggest difference is that at the first one, I was shooting video first, stills were an after thought and I personally only snapped like 30 frames, no lights like I normally do, etc. With this one, the mentality was stills first, video second. So I shot the stills like I normally do and then video when I could. When editing the previous video I kept wishing we had better stills to mix in and with this one, I am really happy with that portion of it.

That was absolutely beautiful. So, so beautiful. It just captured Jessie…everything. You make me want to get married all over again…(to Chris, of course)…:)

AMAZING! I love this movie and the emotion it evokes! The stills are really emphasized when compared to a “normal” slide show… Great Job!

Thanks Jessica. Its funny, but I think the stills are the best part. You can’t beat a still frame, great video or not, a still image is always better. I can’t wait to do my next one, I think I’ll incorporate even more stills into it.
