Motorcycle Rider

I shot this portrait in the parking lot of my studio this afternoon at about 2pm. No it doesn’t get dark that early here. I lit him with two lights. The main light is an Alien Bee 1600 with a full CTO gel over it, the camera white balance is set for the gelled light, making everything go blue. I underexposed the background by 2-3 stops to make it go deep blue and then had another light with no gel camera right and behind him to give a bit of a rim light. I like it, though I am jealous that he gets to be out riding on a nice day like today while I am stuck in the office.

Reminds me a little bit of Scott Kelby’s “Sports Illustrated” Portrait setup. I think it was from one of his books I read. Or maybe the net, I dunno. Regardless, turned out good.

Can you provide more on this?
