Shot a fun assignment for GQ Magazine today. Bombay Sapphire is running an advertorial showing different bartenders from across the US, so I went down to the Heathman and spent an hour mixing some very strong drinks with Jeremy. I lit the scene with 5 lights, the main light is a medium sized softbox with a grid on it to keep the light on just the subject, a background light with a blue gel to light up the Bombay bottles, 2 lights behind with 20 degree grids for the rim lights and a canon speedlight with a snoot to light the bottle and drink on the counter.

you let the mirror get the better of you on the shot on the right. The head is in the background – I’m sure that is something they’ll change in post though

Until Nick mentioned the mirror I did not even notice it. I like the high end lighting you have crafted for this shot Craig.
